The boring bit, plainly.

Bluebird Sessions is a trading name of Motta Consulting Pty Ltd as trustee for the Motta McCarthy Family Trust (ABN 30 548 385 690), an Australian business. We book live solo musicians, each with their own professional sound system, for wedding receptions and some corporate and private events across South East Queensland and Northern NSW.

These terms explain how using the site and booking with us works. When you book, you sign a booking agreement for your event. That agreement is the binding document for your booking, and if anything here differs from it, the agreement wins.

• Enquiry. You tell us your date, area, package and a little about your style. Events need to be at least two weeks away.
• Your matches. We show you musicians who are free on your date and suit your answers, with their price for your package.
• A 30-minute hold. When you choose one, we hold the date and the musician for 30 minutes while you finish booking. If the time runs out, the hold ends and the date is free for others again.
• Confirming. Your booking is confirmed when you sign the agreement and pay the retainer shown at checkout. The retainer comes off your total.
• The balance. Your card is saved securely with Stripe, and the balance is charged to it automatically 14 days before your event. We email you before that happens. If the charge doesn’t go through, we’ll get in touch with a secure link to sort it out.

Every booking includes live music from your musician, who brings their own sound system and speech mics, for the package you choose. What each package covers is set out on our pricing page and in your agreement.

We look after receptions and events, not wedding ceremonies: we don’t provide ceremony music or ceremony sound. Anything not listed in your package, such as DJ sets or extra hours, isn’t included unless your agreement says so. Travel is included across our core regions and quoted before the balance further afield.

You agree to look after your musician on the day as set out in the rider: a meal, water, and a safe spot to park and set up.

If your plans change, tell us as early as you can. We’ll do our best to move your musician to your new date, subject to their availability.

The retainer isn’t refundable, because from the moment you book, your musician turns other work away. If you cancel before the balance date, nothing more is charged. Your agreement sets out the details, and it governs.

Very occasionally a date can be lost in the moments while a payment is going through. If that happens, we refund your retainer automatically and let you know, and we’re happy to help you find another musician.

Illness and emergencies happen to musicians too. If yours can’t perform, we’ll tell you as soon as we know and do everything we can to offer a replacement from our roster who suits your style. If we can’t find one you’re happy with, we’ll refund what you’ve paid us for the booking.

We take great care with every booking, but we can’t control everything on the day, such as the venue, the weather or the power supply. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t responsible for indirect losses, and our total liability for a booking is limited to the amount you’ve paid for it.

Nothing in these terms or your agreement takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which can’t be excluded.

Please give us accurate details and use the site only to look for and book music. Artist photos, bios and music belong to the artists or to us, and shouldn’t be copied without permission. How we handle your information is explained in our privacy policy.

These terms and your booking are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and the courts of Queensland can hear any dispute. If something goes wrong, please talk to us first; we’d much rather sort it out together.
